Sent back: six things that stop a release
A release that's sent back loses days: it has to be fixed, checked again and sent again. We see the review notes on every release, and they come down to the same six things.
No title on the cover
The stores want the release title on the artwork, spelled exactly like the title you typed. Your name on the cover is up to you; the title isn't.
A blurry or small cover
Square, sharp, 3000 × 3000 pixels. A screenshot or a photo from WhatsApp won't make it: export the cover from the file it was designed in.
Handles, links and logos on the cover
No @handles, websites, QR codes, or Spotify and YouTube logos on the artwork. Put them in your bio and your songlink instead.
Names that don't match
The title and artist names have to be the same on the cover, in the audio file's name and in the release details. One extra space or a different spelling is enough to send it back.
Silence at the start or end
Trim the quiet seconds before the first note and after the last one. Let the song end, then cut.
Missing credits
Every song needs its credits: the singer, the lyricist and the composer, spelled the same way everywhere.
Check these six before you press submit, and your release goes through the first time.
If one slips through, Nenco sends you the note with what to change. Fix it, and it goes back for another review. See how long each step takes.
