Content policy

Last updated 8 October 2026

This policy sets out what content is allowed on Nenco and how copyright takedown requests are handled. It exists to protect rights holders, keep DSPs willing to work with us, and keep the platform safe for the artists we serve.

1. You must own or have cleared every right

For every release you upload, you must be able to demonstrate, on request:

  • Ownership of (or written licence to use) the master recording rights.
  • Clearance of the underlying composition — writers, publishers, samples used, and any covers (covers must comply with the applicable statutory or compulsory-mechanical licence in each territory).
  • Permission from every named featured artist and credited contributor.
  • Model releases for any identifiable person depicted in cover art, lyric videos, or promotional material.

Collaborator royalty splits configured at upload must reflect the actual rights agreement. Misrepresenting splits is treated as fraud and grounds for clawback and termination.

2. Prohibited content

You may not upload, and Nenco will reject or remove:

  • Recordings infringing third-party copyright, neighbouring rights, or publishing rights.
  • Releases impersonating another artist (using their name, likeness, or unauthorised voice clones).
  • Recordings that exist solely to manipulate streams — silence tracks, bot-target loops, micro-snippets designed to trigger play counts.
  • Hate speech, incitement to violence, sexually explicit material involving minors, or content that violates Indian law (Information Technology Act 2000 §§66–67B, Indian Penal Code provisions on obscenity and hate speech).
  • Content that breaches any DSP's own acceptable-use policy.
  • Cover art containing logos, trademarks, or imagery you do not have the right to use.
  • Metadata stuffed with unrelated keywords, competitor artist names, or platform-prohibited terms (e.g. “official”, “remix” without authorisation, “feat. [non-collaborator]”).

3. AI-generated and AI-assisted content

We accept AI-assisted content (lyrics polished with an LLM, AI-generated cover art you commissioned) provided you hold all rights to the inputs and outputs. We do not accept recordings whose vocal performance is an unauthorised clone of an identifiable artist, or cover art that infringes on existing imagery.

4. How rights holders submit a takedown

If you believe content on Nenco infringes your rights, send a written notice to hello@nenoise.com with the subject line “copyright takedown” containing:

  • Your full name, postal address, and a contact email and phone number.
  • Identification of the work you claim has been infringed (title, ISRC if known, copyright registration details if applicable).
  • The exact URL or release identifier on Nenco (or the DSP-side link) where the infringing material appears.
  • A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  • A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the rights holder or are authorised to act on their behalf.
  • Your physical or electronic signature.

Notices missing any of the above may be deferred until completed. Send as a single email; attachments accepted (PDF preferred).

5. Our response to a valid takedown

  • We acknowledge receipt within 2 business days.
  • We suspend distribution of the disputed release within 5 business days while we investigate.
  • We notify the uploader and invite a counter-notice with documentary evidence (master rights agreement, publishing clearance, etc.).
  • If the dispute is not resolved, the release stays down. If clear evidence of authorised use is provided by the uploader, we restore the release and inform the claimant.

6. Repeat-infringer policy

Accounts that receive multiple substantiated takedown notices will be terminated and future signups blocked. Pending payouts will be held while disputes are open and may be forfeited if the infringement is proven.

7. Bad-faith claims

Filing a knowingly false takedown notice exposes the claimant to liability for damages (including legal fees) under the Information Technology Act 2000 and other applicable statutes. We pursue this where it appears to be a tool of harassment between artists.

8. Changes to this policy

Nenco reserves the right to update this content policy at any time, at its sole discretion, as the platform's operational, legal, or business requirements evolve. Material changes will be announced via email to your account address at least 14 days before they take effect. The “last updated” date at the top of this page is authoritative.
